For students, knowing how make correct sentence is only one part of language leaning ,in communication its functional value can be more important .students have to use the language in real communication so as to build up the relationship between the sentence structure and the communicative functions .what are the differences between the language use in real life and the traditional language teaching . How can we bridge the gap between the two ? One possible solution is the adoption of The Communicative Language Teaching.the goal of the approach is to develop the students’communicative competence.
The main point of The Communicative Language Teaching is that language is a kind of sociable communication tool. They arrange the teaching contents by specific activities . Such as greeting, invitation, visiting and so on.they make the teaching goals according to the students need of future career. They hold the view that learning a second language should in a situation where the foreign language is spoken by many people.the foreign language teaching is supposed to use the language use in real life rather than explain the rule of the language or the sentence structure.students are playing the most important role in the activities.
The cognitive language teaching
The cognitive language teaching objects to repeating the mechanical exercises. They hold the ideal that language is controlled by the creative activities. The habit of language is the master of rule rather than form habit. They are leaning the pronunciation while learning the words. They train the listening , speaking, reading, writing at the very beginning of the language learning. Besides students are supposed to use their mother language and the translation to explain and pronunciate the new words.
In a word, this teaching method put more emphasis on the understanding of the foreign language,students should recognize and understand it by the language skill.they focus on the understanding of the new material on the basis of the creative communication activities.
